Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas on Monday said there is no final decision yet on the Internal Affairs Service's recommendation to have the policemen involved in the Jolo, Sulu shooting incident be separated from the service.

"Wala pa po. Hindi pa po umabot sa opisina ko. I don't know kung sino ang naglabas ng recommendations na 'yun, supposed to be hindi dapat basta-basta nilabas kasi hindi pa nga namin na-approve 'yun," Sinas said at a press briefing.

"Baka [in] transit pa 'yun. May dadaanan pang mga opisina 'yun at kung bago man dumating sa atin 'yun ay papareview pa natin sa legal officer namin kung ano ang appropriate," he added.

Sinas said whatever will be his decision with regards to the IAS' suggestion, the police officers involved could appeal before the National Police Commission.

, even as they are also expecting that criminal and civil cases will be filed against the cops involved in the June 29 shooting incident that killed four intelligence officers.

The soldiers were tracking suspected suicide bombers in Jolo when they were flagged down by cops in Barangay Walled City.

Despite identifying themselves as members of the military, they were instructed to go to the police station for further verification of their identities.

A police report said the shooting incident was triggered when the soldiers allegedly escaped and pointed their weapons at the police officers.

AFP chief General Gilbert Gapay, then-Philippine Army commander, branded the incident as murder.

Gapay also said the spot report on the incident was fabricated and full of inconsistencies. — RSJ, GMA News
