CSC reiterates BI employees should not post Tiktok videos while in uniform

The Civil Service Commission on Tuesday reiterated that employees of the Bureau of Immigration should not post any videos on social networking platform Tiktok while wearing their uniform.

“Bawal ho talaga ‘yon. Kung mayroon ho silang rules and regulations inside their respective offices, puwede ho silang mafile-an ng kaso,” CSC Commissioner Atty. Aileen Lizada said in an interview on GMA News' Balitanghali.

She said it was a violation of the Reasonable Office Rules and Regulations.

“Ingat po kayo ‘pag gumagawa kayo ng ganiyan. ‘Wag niyo pong gamitin ang mga uniporme ninyo because that is not part of your job description na mag-Tiktok,” Lizada said.

Earlier, Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said posting videos on Tiktok undermines the integrity of the bureau's official uniform.

He said it also violates a prohibition on the use of mobile phones and other gadgets while on duty and the BI's social media policy.

Morente said employees who defy the ban may be charged for insubordination and conduct prejudicial to the interest of the service.

He also reminded BI employees that they must "observe proper decorum on social media to protect the integrity of the agency."

Morento issued the order after Tiktok videos of airport immigration officers surfaced.

He said the "reckless" videos "belittle the image of the bureau." —Ma. Angelica Garcia/KG, GMA News
