Robredo coordinates on Vicky flooding, claps back at critic

Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday evening responded to a tweet by a social media user asking for her whereabouts amid the flooding in Mindanao due to rains brought by Tropical Depression Vicky.

“Andito po ako. Kanina pa kami nagco-coordinate sa areas na apektado,” the Vice President said in a Facebook post

The tweet contained a picture of the flood with the caption, “Madam Lenie, where na you?” and the hashtag #NasaanAngBisePresidente.

The post has since been deleted.

The hashtag was similar to the #NasaanAngPangulo tag which trended due to President Rodrigo Duterte’s absence from the public eye during the onslaught of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.

On Friday, residents of Agusan del Sur took to social media to ask for help after floods hit parts of the province due to Vicky.

“Pagdasal po natin mga kababayan natin sa Agusan del Sur at Surigao del Sur na binabaha ngayon,” Robredo said.

Several areas in Mindanao also experienced flooding due to heavy rain.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remained raised over 33 areas as Vicky accelerated and moved across Agusan del Sur.

Robredo provided information on the areas affected by flooding in Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur.

She said that in Agusan del Sur, the affected areas are Rosario, Bayugan, San Francisco, Veruala, and Sta Josefa. In Agusan del Norte, Butuan Centro and some low-lying barangays are likewise flooded but we were told the situation is manageable.

"We have been informed that the floods have subsided already in Bayugan and Veruela. We were told that power is out in some parts of Rosario and we are still awaiting updates from the other towns until now. In Surigao del Sur, we were informed that the towns of Barobo and Tagbina are the ones most affected."  — DVM/BAP, GMA News
