Locsin hits Bato police chief who claims respect for police is 'lesson' in Tarlac shooting

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. did not mince words in berating a police chief in Bicol, who said the moral lesson that can be drawn from the Tarlac shooting incident is to respect the police.

"Is it true an hijo de p*ta police officer said that this incident will teach people, even if they have white hair, to respect police? P*t*ngina mo," Locsin said on Twitter.

"I see you in the street I will run over you, you piece of native sh*t and incontrovertible proof that Independence was premature," he added.

On Sunday, Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca shot his unarmed neighbors in the middle of a heated argument about "boga" and right of way in Tarlac. Victims Sonya Rufino Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank Anthony, 25, died while the suspect eventually surrendered to the police.

The chief of police of Bato town in Catanduanes, Police Captain Ariel Buraga, irked many netizens on Monday after airing his thoughts about the incident, which was caught on video.

"Lesson learn kahit puti na ang buhok o ubanin na tayo eh matuto tayo rumespeto sa ating mga kapulisan. Mahirap kalaban ang pagtitimpi at pagpapasensya," Buraga said in his post. "RIP Nanay and Totoy."

He, later on, deleted his Facebook post.

Buraga clarified that he was not blaming the victims and said he was just pointing out how respect could have altered the turn  of events.

"Hindi ko sinisisi 'yung mag-ina doon. Ang point ko doon is kawalan ng respeto kaya umabot sa ganoong punto, siguro kung may respeto sila sa bawat isa, hindi siguro hahantong sa ganoong pangyayari," he said.

The bashed police officer also condemned the action taken by Nuezca.

"Wala naman akong malisya sa aking post doon. Hindi ko sinasabing tama 'yung ginawa ng pulis doon, kinocondemn ko talaga 'yung pulis sa ginawa niya. Mali naman talaga 'yung pulis doon," Buraga said.

He added that the Bicol police already ordered him to explain within 24 hours but he maintained that he will not apologize for his statement: "No, wala naman akong malisyang intensyon."

President Rodrigo Duterte said the Tarlac shooting incident was "too brutal." He said erring police officers will not be protected by his administration.

“You do it right, I’m with you. You do it wrong and there will be hell to pay. ‘Yun ang sinabi ko sa aking SONA,” Duterte said. “Your actions must be in accordance with the law. You do not follow the law… I’m sorry, that is not part of the agreement.”
