Sinas apologizes to family of slain mother, son in Tarlac incident

Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas on Thursday said he has already apologized to the family of Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio who were shot dead by a cop in Paniqui, Tarlac over the weekend.

In a television interview, Sinas said he visited the wake of the mother and son last Tuesday and told the grieving family that the PNP leadership would never tolerate the mistakes of cops, especially the killing perpetrated by Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca.

"Pumunta po ako doon para po makiramay po at of course humingi po ng sorry [sa] nangyari doon sa kanila, pangalawa po i-update po sila sa progress ng investigations at para malaman nila na ang PNP po, ako na lalo, ay di po magto-tolerate sa ginawa po ni Nuezca..." Sinas told ANC.

Likewise, Sinas said he provided financial assistance to the Gregorios.

Nuezca shot dead the unarmed victims in broad daylight after they had a heated argument over the weekend. The incident was captured on video that has since gone viral.

Perpetrator cop Neuzca has been indicted for two counts of murder and is under the custody of the Paniqui Municipal Police Station. —LBG, GMA News
