Bacordo says no Navy, Marines personnel vaccinated vs. COVID-19

By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Giovanni Bacordo on Monday said there are no personnel of the Navy nor the Philippine Marines who already got vaccinated against COVID-19.

"I have consulted with the Chief Surgeon Navy and we are not aware of any sailor or marines who have been inoculated with the anti-COVID vaccine," Bacordo said in a text message.

Earlier, Philippine Army chief Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana confirmed that some military officials and non-commissioned officers have already been vaccinated

against the virus.

Sobejana, however, is not certain if the vaccine came from the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has said information regarding vaccinated soldiers is still being verified despite that it was already President Rodrigo Duterte who had bared the matter over the weekend.

"Sabihin ko sa iyo, marami na ang nagpa-injection dito sa Sinopharm... Halos lahat ng sundalo natusukan na," Duterte told FDA Director-General Eric Domingo during their meeting with Cabinet officials on Saturday night.

"I have to be frank and I have to tell the truth. I will not foist a lie. Marami nang nagpatusok and lahat," he added. —KG, GMA News
