By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will implement all measures to reduce corruption as directed by President Rodrigo Duterte, which includes a reshuffle of district engineers, Secretary Mark Villar said on Tuesday.

“We will immediately implement the orders of the President,” Villar said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

On Monday, Duterte bared the names

of House members who have been linked to alleged corruption related to infrastructure projects.

He also relieved from their posts the district engineers of the DPWH who are involved in the corrupt practices alleged before the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission.

Villar said he will talk to the relieved district engineers on Monday.

Duterte asked Villar to give him a list of all district engineers in the country after claiming that several of them worked in connivance with congressmen for corrupt activities.

“I will reorganize the assignments. Ikutin ko kayong lahat… I-reshuffle ko silang lahat, baliktarin ko tapos baliktarin ko ulit,” Duterte said.

Villar said the DPWH will comply and submit the list to the President.

The DPWH secretary warned district engineers of harsh punishment if they are proven involved in corruption.

“Kailangan maayos tayo magtrabaho. Kung hindi, definitely, we will be very strict. Mabigat ang parusa sa mga hindi makikinig,” said Villar at the sidelines of the partial opening on Tuesday of the 18-km Skyway Stage 3 project.

In a separate statement issued on Tuesday, Villar said the DPWH has zero tolerance for bribery and corruption.

“Following the order of the President, DPWH continues to implement all possible measures to minimize corruption. We have a zero tolerance policy to bribery and corruption,” Villar said.

“The President’s directive will be immediately implemented,” he added. —KG, GMA News
