1 dead, 1 injured in shooting incident in Novaliches

One person was killed while another was injured in a shooting incident that transpired in Barangay Pasong Putik, Novaliches, Quezon City on Tuesday.

Police identified the fatality as Luis Fernandez, 45, and the injured victim George Serrano, 51, both from Mandaluyong City. Their companion Jessie Reyes was unharmed as he was seated at the back of the vehicle.

Initial information from the Quezon City Police District showed around 1:35 p.m. the victims, onboard a gray Nissan Almera, were traversing Sampaguita Street in Maligaya Drive when two unidentified armed men riding a black motorcycle appeared and shot the vehicle.

The victims were rushed to Commonwealth Hospital for treatment but Fernandez was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Jao Angeles.

QCPD director Police Brigadier General Danilo Macerin said they are now securing the CCTV footage in the area to identify the perpetrators.

“Kinukuha na rin namin ang CCTV sa area para sa posibleng pagkakakilanlan ng mga naturang suspek,” he said in a press statement.

He has ordered Pasong Putik Police Station (PS 16) chief  Police Lieutenant Colonel Eleazar Barber Jr and Criminal Investigation Section (CIS) head Police Major Elmer Monsalve to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the motive in the incident.

He also called on anyone who could give information to help solve the shooting incident to report to PS 16 or CIDU in Camp Karingal.—AOL, GMA News
