DOH: 7-year-old boy wounded in first stray bullet incident amid holidays

The first stray bullet incident amid the holidays has been reported in Claveria, Masbate on Christmas Eve, the Department of Health said Tuesday.

Based on a report released by the DOH's Epidemiology Bureau, the victim was a seven-year-old male.

He was playing in their kitchen when their visitor fired a gun "in celebration of Christmas," the report read.

The child was wounded in the abdomen and right thigh, and was operated at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital. He was still admitted as of December 27.

According to the DOH, the police have validated it as a stray bullet incident and as of December 29, it remains to be the lone case of such this holiday season.
