PSG personnel received COVID-19 vaccines as early as September —chief

Some personnel of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) received COVID-19 vaccines as early as September, PSG commander Brigadier General Jesus Durante III said on Wednesday.

Durante confirmed that these personnel have already completed the two doses of the vaccines in October.

“We have two. The vaccination process was...after two weeks there was a booster that was given,” he said in an interview on ANC.

“For those vaccinated, yes (they received two shots already), since October...Started actually September. The last batch was October,” he added.

According to him, PSG personnel injected the vaccines by themselves.

He added that nobody outside the PSG was involved in the vaccination.

Durante said they did research on how to handle and inject the vaccines. He also said that the procedures were in the manual.

Asked about the process of how they acquired the unauthorized vaccines, Durante hinted that these could come from “a person, or a state, or whatever.”

He admitted he asked for a donation of the COVID-19 vaccines.

On Saturday, President Rodrigo Duterte said many Filipinos, including some military personnel, have already received a COVID-19 vaccine from Chinese manufacturer Sinopharm, which has no approval yet from the Food and Drug Administration. —KG, GMA News
