DOH: Doctors who administered unregistered COVID-19 vaccines to lose license

By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday warned doctors that they could lose their license if proven that they participated in the administration of unregistered COVID-19 vaccines.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the DOH will be coordinating with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to determine the liability of doctors involved in illegal vaccination.

“Tama ho kayo,” Duque said when asked if the DOH will go after the doctors who administered unregistered COVID-19 vaccines.

“Makikipag-ugnayan po ang Departamento ng Kalusugan sa PRC para tignan kung ano po ba ang mga kalalabasan ng investigation, kung sino po ba ang mananagot,” he added.

Duque said the response of the agencies will depend on the result of the investigation of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that some members of the military had received a COVID-19 vaccine from Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm.

PSG commander Brigadier General Jesus Durante has said that his unit acquired the COVID-19 vaccine for free, but refused to disclose its source.

Durante has also defended the inoculation, saying that Duterte’s close-in-security detail “needs to ensure that they are not themselves a threat to the President's health and safety.”

According to him, the military personnel injected the authorized vaccines to themselves and nobody outside the military was involved in the vaccination.  —KBK, GMA News
