Guevarra: NBI helping PNP determine 'true cause of death' of Christine Dacera

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Wednesday said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is helping the Philippine National Police determine the "true cause of death" of flight attendant Christine Dacera. 

Guevarra said the NBI's forensic medicine team is assisting and coordinating with Makati police's Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO). 

Later in the day, the Justice secretary said the NBI will conduct a second autopsy on Dacera's body.

Dacera, 23, was found dead in the bathtub of a hotel room in Makati City on January 1. She had checked in to celebrate New Year's Eve with friends.

Her family believes she was drugged and sexually abused. They have sought another autopsy independent of the police investigation. 

Three of 11 suspects have been arrested and face complaints for rape with homicide. 

One of the suspects denied the rape allegation and said they did not leave Dacera "until the end." —KG, GMA News
