PNP: Autopsy report should be confidential

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said the results of the autopsy they conducted on the body of Christine Dacera should be confidential.

"We leave it to the Crime Laboratory to share the authenticity of that document but insofar as the chief of police is concerned, this is a form of disinformation because insofar as that document is concerned, this is supposed to be confidential and no one could probably obtain any of the copies coming from the Crime Lab because it has something to do with a crime that has happened," PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said on CNN Philippines.

This was his response when asked about a copy of the autopsy report supposedly released by one of the suspects.

Usana left it to PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas, or the investigators to release information on the matter.

Dacera, a 23-year-old flight attendant, was found dead in the bathtub of a Makati hotel room on January 1. She had checked in to celebrate New Year's Eve with friends.

Her reported cause of death was a ruptured aortic aneurysm. Her family suspects she was drugged and sexually abused.

Unconvinced that Dacera had died of natural causes, her family has sought another autopsy from an independent medico-legal officer.

Three suspects have been arrested and face complaints for rape with homicide. Eight others are at large and have been told to surrender.

One of the suspects said the allegation of rape was "absurd." He also denied that they left the woman unconscious.—AOL, GMA News
