Second autopsy on Dacera yields bodily fluids

The second autopsy performed on flight attendant Christine Dacera, who was found dead in a Makati hotel room on New Year’s Day, yielded bodily fluids.

According to John Consulta’s “24 Oras” report on Monday, a source from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said at least 100 milliliters of bodily fluids were discovered during the second autopsy, performed in General Santos City over the weekend.

The fluids and organs from Dacera will undergo DNA analysis.

“We have very interesting leads. We have very encouraging results. Kaya malaman kung [may] presence of alcohol, level of alcohol maybe, presence of illegal drugs,” NBI Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin said. “May crime. Let’s leave it at that. May crime dito.”

The source also told GMA News that the NBI was awaiting the results of tests performed on Dacera by the Makati Medical Center, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Tissue samples from Dacera and biological samples from the hotel were also being examined.

The Dacera family’s legal counsel earlier denounced the embalming of the flight attendant’s body before it could be examined for medico-legal purposes.

Meanwhile, the legal counsels of only eight of the 11 respondents summoned by the NBI appeared before authorities on Monday.

“We’re giving them their equal chance at the investigation level. If they ignore that… then whatever pieces of evidence we have at hand by the time we have concluded the investigation, then we will file the case if we see any violations,” Lavin said.
