2 more health workers succumb to COVID-19 –DOH


The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday that two more health workers succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) over the past week, raising the death toll to 78.

In its daily report, the DOH said total infections among health workers rose to 14,257 after 423 more contracted COVID-19, while recoveries rose to 13,858 after 378 more cases recovered from the illness.

The other 321 medical workers are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Nurses logged the highest number of COVID-19 cases within their ranks with 5,082 infections, followed by doctors with 2,319, nursing assistants with 1,078, medical technologists with 724, and midwives with 486 cases.

Over 600 other non-medical personnel, such as utility workers, security guards, and administrative staff, were also included in the tally.

The Philippines logged 513,619 COVID-19 cases as of Sunday afternoon.  — DVM, GMA News
