Robredo calls out 'bored troll' for claiming she handed out 'anemic spaghetti'

Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday slammed as "fake news" a blog entry mocking her and her team for supposedly handing out "anemic spaghetti" to residents during a feeding program in San Mateo, Rizal.

In a Facebook post, Robredo belied a claim by controversial pro-Duterte blogger RJ Nieto, known as  "Thinking Pinoy," that her office was giving away "anemic spaghetti to the laylayan" despite her office supposedly having a budget of "over P700 million" for 2021.

"Bored lang siguro trolls. Pero kokontrahin ko. Hindi anemic yung spaghetti... It’s actually very, very good... Huwag sana kayong paapekto sa trolls," she said, clarifying that the budget used for the feeding program did not come from the Office of the Vice President and that her team merely distributed the food assistance.

"FYI, hindi po galing sa budget namin yan?? Kami lang nag distribute. Nasa caption naman," she said.

Robredo also corrected the blog's claim that her office was allocated a budget of "over P700 million" for 2021.

"[H]indi na 700M budget namin for 2021. 900M na???? Tinaasan ng Senate dahil sa maayos na paggastos," the vice president said.

In response, Thinking Pinoy said P900 million is still considered "over P700 million." The blogger said Robredo could have pitched in from her office's funds.

This was not the first time Nieto's social media posts have caused a stir for supposedly spreading "fake news." He was indicted for libel in July 2018 for claiming that then US President Donald Trump had called Senator Antonio Trillanes IV a drug lord.

Trillanes called Nieto's blog entry "fake news," but the latter would later plead not guilty to the charge. -MDM, GMA News
