The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tally rose to 525,618 on Sunday after the Department of Health (DOH) announced 2,103 new infections as 10 laboratories failed to submit reports on time.

This marks the second consecutive day with over 2,000 new infections.

The total number of recoveries also hit 487,551 after 11,653 more patients recovered from the respiratory disease.

The DOH reports time-based recoveries every Sunday as part of “Oplan Recovery,” where asymptomatic and mild cases are re-tagged as recovered after completing 14 days of quarantine without developing symptoms.

The death toll also climbed to 10,749 with 80 new fatalities, while there were 27,318 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.
