Interior Secretary Eduardo Año has extended his medical leave until the end of February, the agency's spokesman said Tuesday.

"The extension was upon doctors' advice for him to fully recuperate, regain his strength and prioritize his health above all else," Malaya said in a text message.

Malaya earlier said Año, as a COVID-19 survivor, was advised by his physicians to "slow down and take a break from stressful activities."

In March 2020, Año tested positive for COVID-19. He again got infected in August. — RSJ, GMA News
