Taguig LGU eyes vaccinating non-residents vs. COVID-19

The local government of Taguig City is eyeing to vaccinate even the non-residents of the city who works there, Mayor Lino Cayetano said Thursday.

At a Palace press briefing, Cayetano said the city government is coordinating with the Department of Health regarding the matter.

"That is something we are coordinating with the Department of Health. The city of Taguig will be very happy to vaccinate 'yung mga workers natin dito dahil baka mas madaling i-coordinate, lalo kung essential workers ho sila, baka mas madaling i-coordinate lalo kung essential workers sila," Cayetano said.

On Wednesday, the cities of Quezon and Navotas said they are also willing to inoculate non-residents for free against COVID-19. Mayor Joy Belmonte said this is to achieve herd immunity.

Taguig, Quezon and Navotas are among the localities that signed a tripartite agreement with AstraZeneca and the national government as regards vaccine purchase. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
