The Philippine National Police (PNP) has submitted an initial list of 10,000 personnel to be prioritized once the government's COVID-19 vaccination program starts, as uniformed personnel are on the priority list.

In a press conference on Monday, PNP Health Service spokesperson Police Major Clarissa Modes said only 700 personnel who are also health frontliners are considered for the first batch of vaccines.

“Initially we submitted 10,000 from the total strength of Camp Crame, pero ‘yung last nating submission pinauna nila ‘yung health frontliner, mga 700 po ‘yun,” Modes said.

PNP deputy chief for administration Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said the 700 prioritized personnel are just initial recipients as most of the vaccines will be dedicated to hospital workers.

“Kung matatandaan natin na inisyal na bibigyan ‘yung mga personnel ng hospitals at dahil may extra naman, nabigyan na rin ang ibang agencies like the Armed Forces and PNP,” he said.

The PNP has around 219,000 personnel, Eleazar said.

Modesa said the selection of 10,000 priority personnel was based on exposure to COVID-19 and the positivity rate in their area.

Earlier, the Department of Health said the priority groups in the vaccination include frontline health workers, indigent senior citizens, remaining senior citizens, remaining indigent population, and uniformed personnel. —KBK, GMA News
