Oral arguments on anti-terror law moved to March 2

Some justices of the Supreme Court (SC) are self-isolating as a precautionary measure against COVID-19, forcing the tribunal to move the oral arguments on the petitions seeking to nullify the anti-terror law to March 2.

In an advisory issued on Monday, SC clerk of court Edgar Aricheta told all concerned parties about the postponement of the oral arguments originally set for Tuesday, February 23, given that “some of the justices are on self-quarantine.”

The high court has so far conducted three days of oral arguments. The justices were supposed to ask further questions to the lawyers of the petitioners on Tuesday.

Last month, the SC had to reset the first day of the oral arguments to February 2 after an official and staff at the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) had tested positive for COVID-19.

The SC earlier allowed a limited number of lawyers from both parties to physically attend the session in compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.—AOL, GMA News
