Robredo opposes removing RT-PCR test as travel requirement

Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday opposed the resolution of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) removing RT-PCR test as a travel requirement.

In her radio program, Robredo warned that the move can lead to a surge of COVID-19 cases even in areas with low numbers of infections.

“Hindi din sa akin okay na inalis na ang testing saka quarantine protocols. Para sa akin delikado iyon lalo pa ngayon na mataas ang cases natin,” she said.

On Saturday, Malacañang said that IATF has approved uniform travel protocols for local government units.

Under the said protocols specified in IATF Resolution No. 101, travelers need not undergo COVID-19 testing unless required by the LGU prior to travel. Such testing will be an RT-PCR test only.

However, Robredo said travelers should have the responsibility to make sure that they are not carriers of COVID-19.

“Kasi para sa akin, being responsible iyon,” she said.

“Halimbawa ako, pupunta ako ng Bicol. Doon sa amin halos walang kaso. Galing ako sa isang lugar na ang taas ng cases…So sa akin being responsible, magpapa-test muna ako. Hindi ako pupunta na wala akong negative test,” she added. —LBG, GMA News
