Duterte says daughter Sara will not seek Presidency in 2022

President Rodrigo Duterte has reiterated that his daughter, incumbent Davao CIty Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, will not run for President next year, according to a report on 24 Oras.

He added that it was Sara herself who said she will not run even with proddings from several groups.

Sara wants to spend time and focus on her three children.

Sara, meanwhile, expressed her gratitude for all the support and trust given to her.

"Hindi na po kailangan na ulit-ulitin natin ang panawagan sa mga tarpaulin at motorcade dahil naririnig ko po kayo at naiintindihan ang nasa puso ninyo dahil ako man ay may ganun din na nararamdaman," she said in a video distributed by Davao City Information Officer Jefrey Tupas.

President Duterte said that Sara told him, using his favorite statement, "Kung gusto ng Diyos na maging Presidente ako kagaya sa iyo, maging Presidente ako. Hindi kailangan ngayon." -- BAP, GMA News
