PNP health exec takes Sinovac vaccine despite preferring other brands

Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service chief Police Brigadier General Luisito Magnaye on Tuesday said he took Sinovac's COVID-19 vaccine despite his preference to other brands in order to set an example to his colleagues.

Interviewed on Unang Hirit, Magnaye said he just took the opportunity with the first available brand of vaccine in the country.

"Ito 'yung unang vaccine na dumating kaya 'yan ay sinamantala na nating na magpabakuna na ako. Pinangunahan na natin 'yung ating mga health workers dito sa kapulisan," he said.

Magnaye said he has been feeling fine after  his vaccination on Monday.

Aside from him, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium chief Dr. Alfonso Victorino Famaran Jr. also said on Monday that he preferred other brand but took a Sinovac vaccine nevertheless.

"I will grab the first opportunity na magkaroon ng protection against COVID-19. Nandito na 'yong Sinovac eh so Sinovac na ako," he said.

"Mas informed kami 'pag Pfizer. Kung sabay, Pfizer, eh walang dumating, Sinovac ako. Kailangan namin ‘yong protection at the soonest possible time," he added. --Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
