Robredo on Duterte's 'go shop for vaccines' quip: Parang hindi pangulo ang nagsasalita

Vice President Leni Robredo has broken her silence regarding President Rodrigo Duterte's latest tirade against her in connection with the government's vaccination program against COVID-19.

In The Mangahas Interviews, Robredo said she finds Duterte's statement not befitting a president.

"Ang unang dating sa akin parang hindi pangulo ang nagsasalita. Pangalawa sobrang pikon," she said as she stressed that people should be allowed to make suggestions.

"Kelangan yung tao malayang magbigay ng suggestions," she said.

Robredo was referring to Duterte's statement, made during a televised address Monday night, urging her to go shop for vaccines abroad, and that he himself will fund her purchases.

“Kung gusto mo talaga para mahinto ka, kunin mo yung basket mo, mamalengke ka doon sa labas ng bakuna. Bigyan kita pera,” Duterte said.

Robredo said the issue is more than just handing her cash to purchase vaccines. “It's not as easy as bibigyan mo ako ng pera, bibili ako,” she said.

A day prior, in her radio program, Robredo noted that Sinovac has not secured any recommendation from the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC).

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said on Tuesday that Sinovac is already under HTAC review. —KBK, GMA News
