Doctor vaccinates self at NKTI

To ease the doubts of his colleagues, a doctor at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) on Wednesday vaccinated himself using the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese firm Sinovac.

“I’m used to doing it. Pag nag to-toxoid, nag flu-flu vaccine ako, sarili ko lang naman ang nag va-vaccinate,” Dr. Michael Jaro, the auxiliary support service head, said in Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras.”

“Vaccination is the only way to go,” he added.

Only 150 personnel of the NKTI agreed to take the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday.

“Maraming gusto pero may agam-agam. Natatakot sa side effects, natatakot na magka-allergy,” NKTI director executive director Rose Marie Liquete said.

Based on the hospital’s monitoring, no personnel experienced side effects from the vaccines.

The management of NKTI hopes that more personnel will join the vaccination campaign against the COVID-19.
