Roque to Robredo: ‘Isantabi muna ang politika ngayong pandemya’

Malacañang on Wednesday said Vice President Leni Robredo should set aside politics amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque made the remark after Robredo broke her silence regarding President Rodrigo Duterte's latest tirade against her in connection with the government's vaccination program against COVID-19.

“Pakiusap po, may panahon sa eleksyon, huhusgahan po ng taong bayan ang mga tatakbo,” Roque said in a report on “24 Oras.”

“Nagkataon lang po talaga na kung ang presidente ay laging handa, ang vice president, laging mali. Ganoon lang po ‘yon,” he added.

In The Mangahas Interviews, Robredo said she finds Duterte's statement not befitting a president.

"Ang unang dating sa akin parang hindi pangulo ang nagsasalita. Pangalawa sobrang pikon," she said as she stressed that people should be allowed to make suggestions.

"Kelangan yung tao malayang magbigay ng suggestions," she added.

The vice president was referring to Duterte’s statement urging her to go shop for vaccines abroad and that he himself will fund her purchases.

Earlier, Roque also stood by Duterte’s tirade against Robredo—one that includes a death wish to Robredo—over her insistence that the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine should be endorsed by the Health Technology Assessment Council first.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
