Only 71 out of 654 individuals passed the special bar examinations for the Shari'ah courts last year, making it one of the toughest editions of the test, according to the Office of the Bar Confidant.

Court of Appeals Associate Justice Japar Dimaampao, chairperson of the 2020 exams, said that the passing percentage was 10.86%, the lowest since 1983 when only 14 passed (7.69%).

Dimaampao also said the Supreme Court on Tuesday lowered the passing grade from 75% to 70%.

Mohammad Hisham Mocsir topped the exams with a rating of 87.075%. He was followed by Ramayana Saidamen (86.975%) and Mohammad Mojib Marangit (85.075%).
