Senators urge posting of ‘national scoreboard’ on COVID-19 vaccinations

Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto on Tuesday called on the government to come up with a "national scoreboard" that would show the status of the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination program.

"Government should now start releasing daily reports on the number of people who have been vaccinated," Recto said in a statement.

"This is the national scoreboard that will tell us how far we are into our vaccination goal and how fast we are doing it," he added.

The daily vaccination reports may be incorporated in the daily new COVID-19 cases report. It also should include a breakdown by regions and age group.

"If we tally deaths, we should also tally the lives saved. If vaccination is a long journey, then these regional speedometers will tell us the vaccination volume and velocity in a certain area," he said.

"Having this granular data is important in mapping out moves against the virus. It is also the database that forms the backbone of the national vaccine passport information system," he added.

Senator Risa Hontiveros also earlier called on the National Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Department of Health to establish a "vaccine tracker" to allow the public to know the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination program.

On Tuesday, the Philippines reported 4,437 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 631,320.

The DOH said this pushed the total active cases in the country to 57,736, this year’s highest. — DVM, GMA News
