COVID-19 vaccine tracker delayed by internet connectivity issues —Galvez

The launch of a tracker for the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines is being delayed by internet connectivity issues in many hospitals, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said Wednesday.

“Meron po tayong more or less 500 hospitals ang nagri-report at kalahati po do’n hindi nakaka-report because of the lack of internet. Nakita po natin medyo mahina ‘yung ating internet connection sa ibang mga lugar,” he said at Kapihan sa Manila Bay.

(We have more or less 500 hospitals reporting and half of those cannot report because of the lack of internet. We saw that our internet connection in some areas is weak.)

Galvez said the private sector and the Department of Information and Communications Technology are working to launch the vaccine tracker in the coming days.

He also reported that 240,297 health workers have gotten their first COVID-19 jab as of Tuesday, three weeks since the country launched its vaccination program.

Lawmakers have urged health authorities to launch a vaccine tracker after the country racked up $900 million in loans for the procurement of millions of doses.
