The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered its units commanders to conduct inspection to ensure police compliance with the minimum health standards against COVID-19.

Reached by GMA News Online, PNP officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said it is up to the unit commanders to determine the details of the inspection.

"Binigay na lang namin responsibility ng mga commanders [we gave the responsibility to the commanders]," he said.

A report by Mark Makalalad on Dobol B TV quoted Eleazar as saying that PNP personnel will receive a warning for first violation. Multiple violations, however, will lead to an administrative case.

for non-uniformed workers in the National Headquarters in Camp Crame amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.

Eleazar said uniformed personnel are not included in the modified work arrangement, citing their regular law enforcement duties and other functions such as curfew enforcement.

However, he said they are already assessing a possible alternative work arrangement for their uniformed personnel.

As of Tuesday, PNP said the total number of COVID-19 cases among its personnel increased to 12,631 after 121 new infections were recorded.

Of the total number, 11,492 have already recovered, while 1,105 are still active cases.
