Mon Tulfo claims Sinas already vaccinated vs. COVID-19

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas was vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in November last year, former Philippine special envoy to China Ramon Tulfo said in his column in The Manila Times.

In his column, Tulfo claimed that Sinas received the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine along with him in November last year.

“Sinas will not die of the dreaded virus infection. Sinas will survive because he got injected with the Sinopharm vaccine along with this columnist in November last year,” he said.

“Sinas was inoculated with the smuggled vaccine along with his security escorts. The Sinopharm vaccine was also given to many members of the Presidential Security Group,” he added.

In December 2020, members of the Presidential Security Group got in hot water after President Rodrigo Duterte bared that some soldiers had already been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Sinas should be forgiven

Last week, the PNP confirmed that Sinas had tested positive for COVID-19

Reached for his comment, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said he “has no knowledge” of Tulfo’s claims.

GMA News Online has sought Sinas for comment, but he has yet to respond as of posting time.

Also in his column, Tulfo said Sinas “should be forgiven” for reportedly skipping health protocols when he visited Oriental Mindoro last Thursday, the same day he had tested positive for the disease.

“I’m no Sinas fan, but the PNP chief should be forgiven for that lapse since he thought that since he had already been vaccinated he would be immune,” Tulfo said.

“Let’s give the guy a break once in a while. He is doing his best,” he added.

Tulfo earlier admitted in his column that he himself got vaccinated with Sinopharm’s COVID-19 vaccine last year even though it was not authorized to be used at the time.

The Department of Health later said he would be included in the ongoing investigation into the illegal vaccination of the PSG

The Philippines has reported a total of 635,698 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 561,099 have recovered and 12,866 have died. — RSJ, GMA News
