Henry Sy Jr.’s daughter, Jan Catherine, dies at 29

Jan Catherine Sy, the granddaughter of SM magnate Henry Sy, Sr. and the daughter of SM Prime Holdings chairman Henry Sy. Jr., passed away on Thursday night. She was 29.

In a statement on the Cup of Faith Facebook page, the Sy family said Jan Catherine died at 6:35 p.m. on March 18.

“Dear family and friends, tonight, March 18, 2021 at 6:35pm, our dearest daughter Jan Catherine Sy is now with the Lord Jesus already. Blessed be the name of the Lord.  You give and take away.  My heart will choose to say, Lord, blessed be your name!” the statement read.

Senator Joel Villanueva conveyed his condolences to the Sy family.

“Devastating to hear the passing of Sis. Jan Catherine Sy, daughter of my good friend and brother in Christ Henry (Big Boy) Sy, Jr. Our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones. Much love and prayers,” Villanueva said in a tweet.
