Duterte reaffirms gov't commitment to modernize naval forces

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday assured the Philippine Navy that his administration remains committed to modernizing the naval service.

Duterte made the commitment in a video message during the christening and commissioning ceremony for BRP Antonio Luna FF151 at Pier 13 in South Harbor, Manila.

“Today, we reaffirm the strong commitment of the transformation, modernization, innovation and pursuit of high standards in our naval service, the President said.

“My warmest greetings to the Philippine Navy as it spearheads the commissioning of BRP Antonio Luna,” he added.

Duterte then said General Antonio Luna’s bravery and patriotism should inspire the officers and crew of the  new ship in their future voyages.
