Lung Center’s COVID-19 wards at full capacity

The COVID-19 ward of the Lung Center of the Philippines has reached full capacity, the hospital’s spokesperson announced Saturday.

According to Athena Imperial’s report on “24 Oras Weekend,” Dr. Norberto Francisco said this was because of the continuous increase in COVID-19 patients.

Out of the 200 hospital beds in the Lung Center, 101 or 55 percent are allocated and occupied by COVID-19 patients.

“Lahat ng mga categories — from ICU beds, critical beds, isolation beds, cohorting beds, napuno na nang napuno ‘yung ward,” Francisco said.

Despite this, there were still seven patients at the emergency room who were awaiting admission to the hospital.

Francisco, however, emphasized that the hospital was not closed down.

“We are trying our best. Nag o-augment kami ng mga tao. Nag-request na kami ng additional 30 nurses sa DOH and hopefully makatanggap na kami ng mas mataas na kapasidad for COVID, but as of now, best effort. Punong-puno lahat,” he said.
