Religious gatherings banned anew in NCR, 4 provinces due to COVID-19

The national government on Sunday banned religious gatherings anew in Metro Manila and nearby provinces following the spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

According to a report on “24 Oras News Alert” on Sunday, all mass gatherings, including religious gatherings, will be prohibited starting Monday, March 22, until April 4, 2021.

Earlier in the day, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases endorsed the implementation of the new regulations.

Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Manila said it would continue to livestream Masses.

The Diocese of Pasig will also release guidelines on Monday.

The Dioceses of Cubao and Novaliches earlier announced that they were temporarily suspending the conduct of physical Masses

and restricting other religious activities from March 22 to April 4.

Zambales seminar

The Department of Education said it will look into the recent COVID-19 transmission among teachers in a seminar held in Zambales.

A total of 27 individuals were infected with the viral disease.

Most of those who tested positive are still in the hospital.

The Zambales Provincial Health Office said the attendees were exposed to the facilitator of the seminar. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
