DOH: COVID-19 bed capacity of big NCR hospitals now at ‘high risk’ level
The bed capacity of big hospitals in Metro Manila for COVID-19 patients has already reached a “high risk” level, a top official of the Department of Health (DOH) said Saturday.
“In Level 3 hospitals, the occupancy rate for COVID beds and COVID isolation beds are already at 74% to 76%,” Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega said in an interview on Dobol B TV.
Level 3 hospitals refer to those with large capacities or medical centers, Vega said.
According to the DOH, hospitals are classified as high risk if their occupancy rate reaches 70% but not more than 85%.
Level 2 hospitals in Metro Manila, meanwhile, are in “moderate risk,” Vega said.
Moderate risks are those with occupancy rates of 60% but not more than 70%.
The National Capital Region topped the list of regions with the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days at 46,969, according to data from the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker.
Metro Manila also has the highest number of total COVID-19 cases at 301,519. —KG, GMA News
