Former Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu tests positive for COVID-19


Former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu on Saturday announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, Abu said he and his family as well as his office took an RT-PCR test on Thursday, March 25.

“Kinabukasan ay lumabas ang resulta ng aking Swab Test at sa hindi inaasahang pagkakataon ay nagpositibo ako sa COVID-19,” Abu said.

The congressman said he is now quarantined at an isolation facility as per the regulations set by the Inter-Agency Task Force and the Department of Health.

“Hinihimok ko ang lahat ng aking mga nakasalamuha ng mga nagdaang araw na sumunod sa Quarantine Protocol na naaayon sa itinakda ng DOH,” he said.a

Meanwhile, Abu said his wife and child both tested negative for the illness.

“Humihiling po ako sa inyo ng dalangin upang paglabanan at malampasan itong pagsubok na aking kinakaharap ngayon,” he said.

The Philippines reported a total of 712,442 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 581,161 have recovered and 13,159 have died. — DVM, GMA News
