Comelec suspends voter registration from March 29 to 31, 2021 amid ECQ

The Commission on Elections on Sunday suspended voter registration in the National Capital Region Plus amid the reimposition of the enhanced community quarantine.

In a tweet, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said work in Comelec offices in the NCR Plus bubble will be suspended from March 29 to 31, thus filing and reception of applications for voter registration and other registration services will also be suspended.

The government has placed Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna under enhanced community quarantine from March 29 to April 4 in a bid to address the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said all mass gatherings, including religious gatherings will be prohibited.

Minors, senior citizens, pregnant women, and those with immunodeficiency and co-morbidities will not be allowed to leave their households.

The curfew was also extended from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The country has so far recorded 721,892 COVID-19 cases including 603,154 recoveries and 15,288 deaths. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
