HPAAC asks LGUs to set vaccination appointments for priority groups to avoid long lines

Local government units must set schedules for priority groups to be inoculated against COVID-19 to avoid long queues at vaccination centers, a doctor from a health professionals' group said Tuesday.

In an interview over Balitanghali, Dr. Leonila Dans of Health Professionals Alliance Against COVID-19 (HPAAC) said long lines at immunization centers could be risky for senior citizens and people with comorbidities.

"Isang bilin lang namin: sana huwag pagpilahin nang napakatagal, kasi baka ma-expose saka yung sikip ng mga tao," Dans said.

(We just hope that they won't allow long lines at vaccination centers to avoid mass gathering and exposure from COVID-19.)

"Each local government should make sure walang pila na ganoon at bigyan ng tamang appointment. Kung pwede bigyan ng number para yung pila,  lalo na ang seniors, hindi na sumisiksik sa masikip na lugar at enclosed noh at hindi yung outdoors," she added.

(LGUs must make sure that there will be no lines and give appointments. If they can designate a number so that seniors  would no longer wait in line.)

The government's task force against COVID-19 has approved the simultaneous inoculation of health workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities. In March, health care workers and other employees in health facilities were the first to receive vaccine doses. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
