Galvez: Any valid ID can be presented for COVID-19 vaccination

Persons who are expected to receive a COVID-19 vaccine may present any valid ID prior to vaccination, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said Tuesday.

“They can use any of their valid IDs,” Galvez said at a Palace news conference, as he encouraged the public to pre-register for vaccination.

The government’s vaccine czar issued the statement after the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) said the PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) is a requirement prior to receiving the vaccine.

PhilHealth cited a Department of Health (DOH) memorandum which prescribes among others, that all potential vaccine recipients need to be registered using the unique identifiers such as the PIN.

Department Memorandum 2021-0099 also provides that all potential vaccine recipients shall present any government-issued identification card such as PRC license, driving license, UMID, PhilHealth ID, passport.

In case of the absence of government ID with picture, an individual may present any government documents such as cedula, barangay certificate, and birth certificate.

More than 700,000 individuals, including healthcare workers and some senior citizens, have been vaccinated against COVID-19 since the Philippines kicked off its mass inoculation program on March 1, the Department of Health said Tuesday. —LDF, GMA News
