‘We are all reborn,’ says ex-Comelec chair Abalos after getting COVID-19 vaccine

Several senior citizens in Mandaluyong City have been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca on Tuesday, according to Mav Gonzales’ report on “24 Oras.”

Among them was former Commission on Elections Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr., who said he was “reborn” after getting the AstraZeneca shot.

The 80-year-old Abalos said he did not experience any adverse effects after the jab.

“Siguro dahil excited ako at natutuwa ako na nabakunahan ako. Sabi ko nga, salamat. Sa lahat nga ng nakasabay ko sabi ko, ‘We are all reborn,’” he said.

(Maybe because I was excited and happy that I was getting vaccinated. I even told my fellow vaccinees that we are all reborn.)

Last year, Abalos and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19.

In San Juan City, aside from the elderly, persons with comorbidities were injected with the Sinovac vaccine.

Meanwhile, the Manila City government decided to accept walk-in vaccinees due to the influx of senior citizens.

Local government units urged those inoculated to report if they experience any adverse effects. Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
