LGUs in NCR Plus following order to post beneficiaries list before giving out cash aid —DILG

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Wednesday said local government units in NCR Plus are compliant in posting the names of beneficiaries before the distribution of cash assistance.

“Yes they are. Parañaque has posted its list of beneficiaries. Caloocan as well,” DILG spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya told GMA News Online in a text message.

The distribution of cash aid for areas under enhanced community quarantine has started on Wednesday, according to the DILG.

Among the first cities to release the cash assistance of P1,000 per individual and a maximum of P4,000 per family to their residents were Parañaque City and Caloocan City.

The DILG instructed local government units to post the names of approved beneficiaries on their official website, social media accounts, and at conspicuous places in the community before the distribution.

According to DILG, the measure is “to foster greater transparency and accountability.”

During the opening ceremony of the cash assistance distribution in Parañaque City, Malaya encouraged residents to report their concerns on the persons listed or not listed as beneficiaries.

They can report irregularities to the barangay and municipal authorities.

To monitor the compliance of LGUs, he said inspection teams were created. The Philippine National Police will immediately investigate reported cases of anomalies in the distribution, he added. — BM, GMA News
