Ex-Speaker Alvarez tests positive for COVID-19

Former Speaker and Davao del Norte 1st District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez has tested positive for COVID-19, his daughter confirmed on Thursday.

According to Finance Assistant Secretary Paola Alvarez, his father is not in any serious condition and is already recovering.

"He is still in Davao del Norte and is recovering at home. He is not or was intubated," Alvarez said in a message to GMA News Online.

The younger Alvarez, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to everyone extending prayers and concern for her father. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
