PNP: COVID-19 infected cops now at 16,614

The Philippine National Police on Thursday reported 194 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among its personnel as of Wednesday, raising the total tally to 16,614.

The PNP said total recoveries also rose to 13,978 after 142 more policemen recovered from the respiratory illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, remained at 40.

So far, there are 2,596 active COVID-19 cases within the police organization.

Nationwide, COVID-19 cases rose to 828,366 on Thursday, including 167,279 active cases, 646,968  recoveries and 14,119 deaths.

Data from the DOH showed that 63% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are in use while 45% of the mechanical ventilators are occupied. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
