Curfew in NCR Plus to remain as is for now under MECQ —Roque

By ERWIN COLCOL,GMA News

Curfew hours in Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces within the NCR Plus will remain as they are for now, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Sunday.

Roque told reporters that mayors and governors within the NCR Plus bubble— composed of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna—have not come up with a decision yet regarding the curfew hours now that the region will transition to modified enhanced community quarantine beginning April 12 until April 30.

“On curfew, while mayors and governors have not yet agreed on modified hours, it remains as is. Consultations already on-going and a decision may be made soon," Roque said.

During the enhanced community quarantine period, curfew hours in the NCR Plus have been set to 6 p.m. until 5 a.m the following day.

Since Roque's announcement, the capital region's mayors have agreed to curfew hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the MECQ.

The rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country prompted Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces to be placed under stricter community quarantine classifications.

On Sunday, the Philippines reported 11681 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 864,868 cases. — BM, GMA News
