Rest of population vaccinated vs. COVID-19 in July if...

The general public may get COVID-19 vaccines as early as July if supplies in the country would become “secure and stable" by then.

This was disclosed by Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. in a Palace briefing on Tuesday.

“This coming July, ‘pag mayroon na tayong secure and stable supply, maaari na nating bakunahan ang general public starting in July,” Galvez said.

[If we have a secure and stable supply of COVID-19 vaccines, we may start inoculating the general public starting in July.]

So far, 865,541 individuals who are in A1 category or those who work in frontline health services were already vaccinated, according to Galvez’s presentation.

There are also 57,818 senior citizens or persons belonging in the A2 category are already inoculated, while 129,897 individuals in the A3 category or persons with comorbidity already got COVID-19 jabs.

Should there be additional vaccine supplies coming in the Philippines this May, the government may also start inoculating individuals in the A4 and A5 categories.

The A4 category includes frontline personnel in essential sectors including uniformed personnel and those in working sectors identified by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases as essential during an enhanced community quarantine

While A5 category includes indigent population not otherwise included in the preceding categories

On Monday, the national government released a list of workers who are included in the A4 category.

Testing czar Vince Dizon on Tuesday announced that media workers will also be included in the A4 category. --NB, GMA News
