2 more cops die of COVID-19; virus-hit police forces top 18.5k

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has infected 125 more police personnel, bringing the total to 18,531 cases.

In its Facebook post, Philippine National Police Health Service department also reported 2,276 active cases out of the total cases of the lung ailment.

Meanwhile, two new fatalities were documented in the police force, raising the total death tally to 51.

Of the two fatalities, a Police Staff Sergeant, assigned at the Mountain Province Police Office, succumbed to the illness on April 17, while a Police Executive Master Sergeant at Sarangani Police Provincial Police Office died on April 14.

Total recoveries in PNP reached 16,204, with 169 additional survivors.

COVID-19 tally nationwide reached 926,052 on Saturday with 706,532 total recoveries, and 15,810 total deaths. —LBG, GMA News
