The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 9,227 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, bringing the total tally to 962,307, as eight laboratories failed to submit data on time.

According to the DOH, this pushed the total active cases to 116,434, of which 96.7 are mild, 1.3% are asymptomatic, 0.8% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, total recoveries also climbed to 829,608 with 19,699 new ones while 124 new fatalities brought the death toll to 16,265.

Twenty-six duplicate cases were also removed from the total case count.

“Moreover, 36 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.

Data from the DOH showed that 65% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are in use while 45% of the mechanical ventilators are occupied.

In the National Capital Region, 82% of the ICU beds are being utilized by patients while 60% of the mechanical ventilators are in use.

The DOH earlier said it will push for the daily logging of time-based recoveries of COVID-19 patients.
