4 dead, 13 others hurt due to Bising —NDRRMC

Four people have been reported dead, while 13 were wounded amid the onslaught of Typhoon Bising, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.

In an update, the NDRRMC said among the fatalities was a 47-year-old female in Region 7 who sustained severe injuries on her chest after a tree fell on her.

In Southern Leyte, a 79-year-old male also died due to massive cerebral hemorrhage secondary to blunt head trauma after an object fell on him.

In Davao del Sur, a 19-year-old female died due to a strong winds incident.

Meanwhile, the 40-year-old male, previously reported missing, was found dead.

The NDRRMC said those injured were from Camarines Norte, Cebu, Eastern Samar, and Davao del Sur.

As of April 22, the NDRRMC said a total of 235,752 people or 60,601 families from 965 barangays were affected by Typhoon Bising in Regions II, V, VIII, and CARAGA.

Of which, 4,511 families or 18,603 persons are currently taking temporary shelter inside 252 evacuation centers, while 6,269 families or 24,470 persons sought shelter with their relatives and/or friends.

A total of 1,030 houses were damaged — 86 totally and 944 partially — in Regions V, VIII, and CARAGA.

The typhoon also destroyed infrastructures worth P10.55 million in Regions V and VIII, while four infrastructures were reported damaged in CARAGA.

A total of P211,663,400.50 worth of damage to agriculture was also incurred in Regions V, and VIII.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals were lifted as of 5 p.m. as Bising moved north-northeastward away from the landmass of Luzon, PAGASA said.

At 4 p.m., the center of the eye of Bising was located at 390 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 150 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph. it is moving north northeastward at 15 kph. --NB, GMA News
